Doris Burke Obituary
Valhalla - Doris G. Burke 89, of Valhalla, NY passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, 2020. She was born on May 17, 1931 in Yonkers, NY to Jane Kiel and David Goldberg. She settled in Valhalla, NY in 1965. Doris graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School, Eastman Business School in NYC and the New York School of Insurance where she earned her Broker's License. Professionally she worked for the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America as secretary in the engineering service and for Texas Gulf Sulphur Company both located in NYC. Doris married her beloved husband John H. Burke at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Yonkers, NY on Nov. 10, 1956. Doris is survived by her son Stephen J. Burke (Martha) of Valhalla, NY and her three cherished grandsons Patrick, Andrew, and Bryan. Doris was predeceased by both of her parents, her husband John in 1978, her daughter Laura Jane in 1971 and her sister Beverly Habenstreit. Doris was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Valhalla Fire Company #1 and the Mt. Pleasant Seniors. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8PM at the Hawthorne Funeral Home. Where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10AM. Interment, Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in Doris's name to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society at www.donate.lls.org would be appreciated.
