Dorothy Murtha Obituary
Dorothy T. Murtha, a resident of Tappan for 50 years, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Queens to Arthur and Mary Murphy Marshall on March 8, 1927. Dorothy, a homemaker, previously resided in Rego Park, Queens. She was a parishioner of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Tappan and a member of the OLSH Altar Rosary Society. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, William, who died in 1983. Dorothy is survived by her children, William and his wife Maureen, Kenneth, Eileen and Timothy and his wife Joanne; her sister Marjorie Tobin; her grandchildren, Philip, Susan, Nancy, Dani, Brian, Kaitlyn, Maggie, Mairead, Justin and Meg; her great-granddaughter Ryan; and her beloved dog Buster. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Sylvia and her sister Eleanor Hunt and brother Arthur Marshall.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 10am, at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, 7-9pm and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the United Hospice of Rockland (www.hospiceofrockland.org).

We were so sorry to hear this news about your Mother and Grandmother. We wish all of you love and much sympathy for your loss. Dottie was a staple of Old Mill Lane and she will be truly missed.
