AGE: 90 • Mount Vernon
Giovanna Gizzo of Mt. Vernon passed away on December 18, 2013. She was born in Guardia Lombardi, Italy on September 13, 1923 to Salvatore and Josephine Salierno. Giovanna was predeceased by her beloved husband Rocco in 2004. Loving mother of Gaetano (Isabelle) Gizzo, Sal (Nikki) Gizzo and John (Andrea) Gizzo; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Jaime, Dayna, Rocky, Bianca, Shamie, Christian, Valentina, Brandon and Matthew and great grandmother of Matteo and Gianluca; dear sister of Josephine Portanova and Tina DiMarino. Also survived by two special people who were very dear to Giovanna and were very involved in her daily care are Phyllis, Zaida and Mario. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass 10:00 am Monday at St. Ursula's Church. Entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum.

Aunt Giovannina was a very special person loved her family deeply,she had a big heart and gave to all,we enjoyed many wonderful dinners at her house, as she was a great cook.We are all going to miss her,we join all our cousins who are grieving the loss of a beautiful lady.We pray for comfort and peace.
Our hearts go out to you,Tony, Sal,Johnny and families.
