ISABEL WALSH Obituary

Isabel B. Walsh, 91 of Gipsy Trail Club, Carmel, NY died on January 26, 2007. Born April 4, 1915 to Raymond and Maria Basanta. Isabel was a 1936 Graduate of the College of New Rochelle and a 1939 graduate of Columbia University Law School. She worked as an Assistant District Attorney for New York County from 1939 until her retirement in 1972. Following her retirement from the district attorney's office, she worked as the Town Attorney for the Town of Kent for a brief period. Thereafter, she served as the Putnam County Historian for over a decade. Isabel had many and varied interest including history, art, fitness and travel. For many years, she was active in local, social, historical and political organizations. She was a daily regular at her aerobics class at Carmel Fitness into her 91st year. Isabel was married to Mark T. Walsh on September 6, 1941 and moved from Manhattan to Kent in 1951. She was a communicant of St. James the Apostle in Carmel and was a member of the Gipsy Trail Club. Her husband, Mark, predeceased her. She is survived by her loving son, Mark, Jr; his wife, Elizabeth, the grandchildren she adored, Caroline and Luke, nephews, a niece and many good friends. Calling hours are Today from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Cargain Funeral Home, Carmel. A Funeral Service will be celebrated, Monday 10 am at the Funeral Home.
