Dwyer, Monica

DWYER, Monica, (nee Cronin), 82, of Dobbs Ferry, NY, on March 14, 2012.

Monica was born in Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. She came to the US at the age of 19. Monica worked for Mutual of New York (MONY) for over 40 years.

She was proud of her Irish heritage and was active in many Irish cultural organizations including the LAOH. Monica was the Grand Marshall of the Sleepy Hollow St. Patrick's Day Parade in 2001. In 1996 she was appointed an aide to the Grand Marshall of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade. Monica took great pleasure in marching in Sleepy Hollow, Mount Kisco, Yonkers and New York City St. Patrick's Day Parades.

Predeceased by her husband Michael and son Patrick, Monica is survived by her children Marian Dwyer, Bernadette Redd, (John), Michael Dwyer (Tricia), grandchildren; Lucy and Georgia Redd, and Siobhan, Brigid,, and Caitlin Dwyer; her brothers Christy Cronin (Ita), and Cyril Cronin; her sisters, Helen Cronin and Bernadette Kelly (Tom); brothers-in-law Philip and Frank Dwyer (Tina) along with many nieces and nephews in the US and Ireland; and a lifetime of wonderful friends.

I never met Monica, but she sounds as wonderful as her brother, Christy and his wife Ita, who have been life-long friends of my family. My sympathy to all who mourn her. I will remember you all in prayer. Dorothea (Sr. Jane) Forde, Holy Faith Sisters, Dublin, Ireland.
