PATRICIA CAPPARELLI Obituary
Patricia Ann Capparelli (August 30, 1950 - September 7, 2010), of Pelham, NY, beloved wife mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Pat was born in New Rochelle to Marie Elizabeth (DeStefano) and Dominick Joseph Albanese. She graduated St. Gabriel's Elementary and High School in New Rochelle. She graduated Iona College Summa Cum Laude, where she was presented with the Highest Honor in her graduating class for excellence in science. She married John Frank Capparelli, who predeceased her, on April 25, 1971 at St. Joseph's Church in New Rochelle. They had one of the longest honeymoons on record, six weeks touring Italy. Pat was formerly employed by Israel Streger Inc., where she worked until she had her children. She went on to open Children's Playgroup at St. Luke's Church in New Rochelle with her sister Madeline. She was very active in the Pelham School District. She and four other mothers established SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teacher Association) to advocate for children with special needs. She became Secretary of SEPTA, which continues to this day. Pat enjoyed ceramics, golf, knitting and making her children's Halloween costumes. Her children won a total of nine trophies between them for their costumes, but she always kidded them saying that the costumes were theirs and the trophies were rightfully hers. Pat leaves behind her two daughters, Gina Capparelli-Troll and Jennifer Capparelli; her son-in-law Steven Troll and her three grandchildren, Elizabeth Payton, Andrew Michael and Steven John; her sister Madeline Damore, brother-inlaw Charles Damore, niece Lisa Damore and two nephews, Jason and John Damore, two aunts Florence Angeletta and Rita DeStefano, over 25 first cousins and over 40 second cousins. Visitation will begin on Thursday, from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Homes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole R.C Church (Brewster, NY). Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery (Rye, NY). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
