Penelope Morgan, 72, passed away at her home in Croton-on-Hudson on May 11, 2021 after courageously fighting cancer for over two years. Penny loved Westchester County and lived and worked in the area her entire adult life. She graduated from Hiram College in Ohio in 1970 and taught Middle School Science for a year before discovering her true professional calling - the law. She worked as a paralegal for an attorney in White Plains (Robert H. Law III) from 1972 until 1977, during which time she was certified by the Appellate Division of New York as a clerk, and therefore was permitted to take the New York bar exam in the Spring of 1977 without having graduated from law school. She passed on her first attempt. She remained in partnership with Robert Law until 1984, when she went out on her own and set up a solo practice in Ossining, New York. Penny always enjoyed teaching. Until the late 1990s, she taught business law at Westchester Community College and in the Legal Studies programs at Mercy College and Manhattanville College. She was admitted to practice before the federal courts in November 1979 and was certified as a financial planner in 1982. In recent years she specialized in Elder Law and Estates - always looking to deliver fair and just outcomes for her clients.

In addition to her legal work, Penny was active in her church and served as Education for Ministry (EfM) leader for her Episcopal Church for over a decade. In addition, she served as a Pastoral Care support volunteer at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow.

Penny stayed close with family and friends and was usually the first to offer support and care whenever needed. She loved to travel, collect teddy bears, do crafts of any kind, and declared EPCOT at Walt Disney World her ultimate "Happy Place". She is survived by her mother, Virginia Morgan (age 101) of Los Altos, CA, her two sisters, Pat Berger and her husband, Al Berger, of Grand Forks, ND and Madeleine Fackler and her husband, Stephen Fackler, of Los Altos, CA and her niece and nephew, Katherine Cattani of Washington, DC and Matthew Fackler of Los Altos, CA.

A Memorial Service will be held at St Augustine's Episcopal Church at 6 Old Post Rd, N in Croton-on-Hudson at 2pm on Friday, July 9th. Donations can be made to St Augustine's, the American Cancer Society or Ageless Alliance (a national group focused on preventing elder abuse).
