Carolyn Sue Huseman of Lompoc died Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the age of 79. Starbuck-Lind Mortuary, directors.

Sue was a special lady who was a dynamic force that drove her to help others in need, get jobs done, and be a friend to many. She could be a whirlwind of activity, working for years in many organizations in our Lompoc community.
She loved to walk at the upper Mission trail, and did this for 30 years, almost daily before she became ill. It was her quiet meditative time enjoying nature and to prepare herself for busy days ahead. I had the chance to walk with her several times, and on Sunday she would walk the extra paths that led her up to the cross so she could send her prayers to God from that special area she loved and found peaceful.
Sue finally got me to go to her Line Dance Class at the Half Century Club in 2019, and I found it delightful and we had so much fun dancing there. Her Line Dance friends all have been missing her during her illness, and we are so sad we will never see her again, remembering Sue looking fabulous in her beautiful outfits and stunning cowgirl boots!
I will always remember my friend Sue! My heartfelt love and sympathy go out to Nanette, and Sue's friends.

Mrs. Huseman was my teacher for accounting at Lompoc High. This is where my love for business started and influenced my future. I now teach accounting at Cabrillo. She was the best teacher! Kind, funny, and caring. Her daughter, Nanette, and I swam together on the LHS swim team and became friends. She was a wonderful woman who left her mark on this world. Rest in peace.

Sue was so personable, bright & warm. It was always a pleasure to run into her or participate in a hospital foundation event with her. Nanette, when she said your name, one way or another, or volunteering you for something, it always made your name sound so special, it was full of love.

Nanette, I knew your mother as part of the Mendez family, then through ROP and most recently at line dancing. She was wonderful to be around. My condolences on her passing.

May the love of friends and family carry through this grief. Sue was a wonderful friend. She was so supportive of The Lompoc Hospital Foundation; so dependable, always giving - always cheerful. We could always count on her. Sue was a pillar in this community. She will be missed.
