To the family of Dr. and Mrs. Garretson, I am very sorry for the loss of your parents. In the early seventies When I was 19 years old, my 19 year old husband was struck by a car. Being at the old General Hospital alone and feeling lost Dr Garretson overheard me talking with the switchboard operator trying to get info on my husbands condition. Dr Garretson informed me that he was my husbands Dr and he was always their for me when I needed help. After going home from the hospital I remember calling your house, when I needed help, and your Mom was very kind and would tell me to hold on while she got your Dad, saying that he was out on the tractor mowing. Your Dad was a great inspiration to me and I will never forget him. God Bless you all, and remember Jesus said that He will never leave you or forsake you. Hold on to the Lord. Love Tonya

Dear Steve and John,
I am related to you both through your mother. Marianna and I were cousins-her mother and my father were siblings. We have always lived far apart so didn't really know each other, but kept in some touch with photos, notes at Christmastime.Just wanted you to know that my sympathy is with you and your families.

To The Garretson Family,
My husband and I send our deepest sympathy to you at the loss of your parents. Your father operated on our son when he was just days old and he weighed in at only 2.5 lbs. Our son did very well in spite of some premature birth obstacles he had to overcome. At a later date your Father operated again to revise his original sugery. My son took his favorite "lovey" with him to the surgery room, a very love worn little terry cloth horse. Upon returning from sugery the horse was gone. I was distraught as I knew how much he loved that horse. Your dad, chief of neurosurgery, took it upon himself to go to the laundry room and search for his horse. He found it and 27 years later we still have it. My son grew up healthy and whole and much of that is due to your father's steady hand and brilliant mind.
We send you our prayers and blessings that you will find the memories of your parents a comfort at this sad time.

To the family of Dr. and Mrs. Garretson,
Words are inadequate to express my sense of shock and sadness upon reading of the loss of such fine people.
Dr. Garretson performed a very delicate surgery on my neck in 1992, which was a complete success. But more than his skill, he was possessed of a genuine caring for his patients and their familes.
My tenderest thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you all.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to your family at this horrible time in your lives. Dr. Garretson operated on my 34 year old husband in 1989 and removed a tumor from his brainstem and by that my husband was given 11 more months of life. He was tough and he was Brilliant. Dr, Gardner too! I lost both my parents after a terrible struggle with cancer and treatments. It happened 18 days apart in October. I feel your Sadness more than you could know. My prayers are with you and your family. May God bring you some PEACE. Remember the LOVE!

We were so sad to hear about your parents, are prayers are with all of your family. Your father operated on our son many times the first being 3 weeks old and weighing 2 lbs., in 1980. If not for him we may not have our son today. He was a very compassionate person. I often thought many times how I would like for your father to see my son and how well he is doing. He was a wonderful man as I am sure your mother was too. I lost my father many years ago. I can not imagine both parents. May God send your family peace. Again we are so sad.

Dr. Garretson removed my brain tumor in October of 1972 when I was 19 years-old. After the surgery the nurses were reluctant to apply too much pressure to the stitches in cleaning the area. Dr. Garretson came in one morning and requested a pan of warm water and rolled up his sleaves. He vigorously cleaned the area and gave me a much-needed pep talk.
Because of his care, I am now 55 and have a large family of my own. My thoughts and prayers are with his.
