Alice Spencer

In loving memory of Alice (Szymula) Spencer, 86, of La Porte, Indiana.

She passed away peacefully on Dec. 24, 2023, in Aurora, Colorado. Alice was born Dec. 21, 1937, in La Porte, Indiana, to John and Kazmiera "Kay" Szymula (Kolodiej).

She graduated from La Porte High School in 1955 and moved to New Mexico shortly thereafter. She lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Phoenix, Arizona, for most of her life.

In 1981, she married Roscoe "Bud" Spencer in Albuquerque. He proceeded her in death in September 1996. From 1998 until his death in 2020, Alice spent time with her partner of 22 years, Gordon "Gordy" Dokken.

Alice enjoyed cooking, dancing, entertaining, her boxers and many friends. She also enjoyed volunteering at various VFWs, American Legions and Eagles clubs.

She is survived by two daughters, Andrea (Vlock) Hinman of Centennial, Colorado, and Audrey Vlock of Austin, Texas; with six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, Colorado, 80014. The service will start at 2 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico.
