Bonnie Pointer, 87, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Brickyard Health Care in La Porte, Indiana.
She was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and Helen (Polodna) Martin.
Coming from Chicago in junior high school to the small town of Knox, Indiana, Bonnie graduated from Knox High School. After high school she met the love of her life, William Woods, at Bass Lake. Later in 1953, Bonnie and William married. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir. She was also a longtime member of the La Porte Missionary Church. Bonnie's greatest gift was that she was a supreme vocalist in her youth and through her school years. Later in the 1970s, she sang for the Billy Graham Crusade. Bonnie found joy in cooking and sewing, but she looked forward to family activities and holidays with the families the most.
Bonnie is survived by three sons, Timothy (Sandra) Woods of La Porte, Indiana, Todd (JoAnn) Woods of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Tyler (Shannon) Woods of La Porte, Indiana; stepson, Andy; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband, William Eugene Woods, in 1969; her parents; second husband, Wert Pointer (2018); two sons, Thomas Woods and Terry Woods; stepson, Dave; two brothers, Don Martin and Kenneth Martin; and sister, Dorothy Johanan.

Bonnie was my cub scout leader in the 70's. She was always cheerful and friendly and giving herself to others. Such a lovely lady in so many ways.
