Aidas Kriauciunas Obituary

Aidas Vladas Kriauciunas

50, passed on March 5, 2014 in Indianapolis, IN after a five year battle with cancer.

Aidas was born the eldest son on June 1, 1963 in Kankakee, IL.  He was raised in Lansing, MI.  He attended Horsebrook School, Otto Jr High, and Sexton High School. He completed his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University in chemistry/biochemistry.  He then obtained a Master's degree in the same studies at Texas Tech University where he met his wife.  During the 25 years he enjoyed working at Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis, he made patented contributions in diabetes research.

He enjoyed spending time with family, sports of all sorts (playing volleyball, cycling, log chopping, keeping up-to-date on his Spartans), taking action photos at his children's events, and indulging in a love of craft brews.  He was well known for his intelligence and witty sense of humor.

Aidas was a first generation Lithuanian-American and those roots ran deep.  He was a graduate of the Ziburys Lithuanian School in Southfield, MI and for a number of years he attended and worked at the Dainava Lithuanian Youth Camp near Manchester, MI.  He was an active member of the Indianapolis Lithuanian-American community.

Aidas was a modest and generous man of faith and family.  He was a strong man and always there for his family and friends during daily life, crises and celebrations.  He displayed these qualities with grace and dignity during his illness.  His family and friends are blessed to have known him and to have learned from his example of a life well lived.  He will always be loved, remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 25 years, Tracey, daughter Audra, son Vytas; parents Romualdas and Grazina; brother Aras and nephew Alex; brother Aldas, sister-in-law Irena and nephews Gytis and Andrius; and a host of family and friends.
