Daniel Frazier Obituary

Daniel Frazier

Delta Township - Daniel Vincent Frazier was born August 18, 1968 in Grand Rapids, MI. to his proud parents, Michael and Patricia (Brinker) Frazier. He was blessed to be raised in the rural outskirts of Sunfield, MI where he graduated from Lakewood High School in 1986. He married his high school sweetheart, Kimberly Vetter, in 1989 and celebrated 31 years together. Dan was a patriot who deeply loved his country. Enlisting in the United States Army in 1989, he volunteered for airborne school and was assigned to The 3rd Battalion A Company, 75th Ranger Regiment. In 1989, Dan participated in the aerial invasion of Panama during "Operation Just Cause." During this course of military action against a determined enemy, Dan earned the highly coveted Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Armed Expeditionary Medal with an Arrowhead device. Dan later became a member of the Michigan National Guard while obtaining a degree in Business Management. As a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, Dan was stationed at Fort Polk, LA as a logistics officer from 1996 until he left the military in 2000. He was currently a regional area manager for Johnson Controls and formerly a Detroit Branch Manager for York HVAC. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly, son, Zachary (Abbey) Frazier and grand-daughter Isla, of Golden, Co., daughters, Kelsey Frazier of Grand Ledge & Katherine (Fiance' Kyle Wilson) Frazier of Pittsburgh, PA. Also surviving are his parents Michael and Patricia Frazier of Spanish Fort, AL, brother, Joseph (Barbara) Frazier, of Grand Ledge, MI. In-laws, Diane Pirfo of Washington D.C., Clifford and Lory Vetter of Sunfield, MI, brother-in-law, Justin Vetter of Kalamazoo, MI and many beloved nieces and nephews. Dan was a devoted husband and father, a loving son and beloved brother. He was a great friend and support to many. The world is a better place because of the life of Daniel Frazier. His witness of faith, kindness, consideration of others and his legendary sense of humor will be deeply missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 21, 2021, 11:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church, Grand Ledge by The Reverend Fr. James Eisele. Rite of Committal will follow with military honors at Oakwood Cemetery. I was a classmate of Dan’s since elementary school. I don’t recall there was ever a time he wasn’t smiling, joking or sharing positive words of encouragement. He was a genuine human being who truly cared for the well being of others. My heart goes out to Kim and the rest of the Frazier family. May you find comfort in his love of life and family and all the memories you shared.

While our company only got to work with Dan for a short time, his industry knowledge was invaluable in helping us get the equipment to our customers. He was gregarious and we will miss him. We have planted a tree in Israel in his memory.

As Dan’s oldest male cousin I was honored to be a mentor for his post military career. It wasn’t necessary for long as he proved his corporate management acumen in short time, but I appreciated that he continued to keep me updated as he progressed with increasing levels of responsibility. About every three months we spent an hour on the phone and thought we solved the world’s problems, but mostly shared anecdotes about each other’s families. A particular memory included Uncle Mike sponsoring a Colorado elk hunt. Dan, myself, and cousin John Joined him for an extraordinary week in the great Rocky Mountains outdoors. Dan and me both brought home nice racks that grace the walls of our homes. A story side note, Dan was mentored by a proud Army Ranger uncle Ron during his military career and no doubt between Dan’s proud dad and the Brinker clan Dan developed a great skill for story telling. So for any of you who were fibbed to, Dan didn’t make a perfect 400 yd. shot on that 5 x 6 elk. Truth be told, he and I both found our bulls being fed on by bears. Just the same, thanks uncle Mike for a great hunt and Dan and John for a great time. Over the last few years I encouraged us to hunt again. Dan and I had hoped this year would be the next of many more years. Will miss you and those hour long conversations Dan. Thank you for your service and your friendship. You are a great American.
