Kerry Hummel Obituary
Kerry W. Hummel, 51, passed away August 25, 2014 in Lansing, MI. He was born April 14, 1963, in Grand Rapids, MI, son of Marvin and Gloria (Janousek) Hummel. Kerry worked for Sears as an appliance repair technician. He was an avid Nascar Fan, enjoyed playing video games and watching movies.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Tonya, son, Evan Hummel; step-children, Ian and Sierra Fitzpatrick; mother and father, Gloria and Marvin; mother-in-law, Irma (Lyle) Tyler; step mother-in-law, Teresa Waldren; brother, Kevin (Kari) Hummel; sister, Karen Hummel, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Tony Waldren.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 28, 2014 - 11:00 a.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with Pastor Brian McLaughlin of the Grand Ledge Baptist Church officiating. Visitations will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Kerry's Children Education Fund. I am so shocked to hear of Kerry's passing. He worked on our Sears appliances for the past 5 years, and when a new repairman showed up today, I asked how Kerry was and he told me the sad news. He was such a nice man who clearly loved his family and his dog (I had an old deaf and blind dog who adored him, so we often chatted while he worked about family and dogs). I can't imagine what a blow this must be to the family. My heart goes out to you. The world was a better place with him in it.

Kerry was a wonderful family man that could hold a conversation with anyone, he was just a nice person to know. I will always remember our trips to the lake. Rest in peace. Prayers to the family.
