DAVID GRIFFIS David Joseph Griffis, 55, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly, at home, December 16,, 2017. David was a 42-year resident of Las Vegas and worked as a front services employee at the largest hotel/casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, including The Wynn, Bellagio, Mirage and Treasure Island. David was the son of Robert Irwin Griffis (dec.) and Mary Catherine Griffis, the husband of Dawn Rosch Griffis and father of Robert Maxwell (Max) Griffis. Dawn and David were married for 27 years. David will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife and son and life-long friends. He was also a musician and an avid guitar player. Anyone who knew David also knew of his passion for Halloween and the preparations he made for it each year. David loved to travel, with Disneyland as a family favorite. In addition to Dawn and Max, David is survived by his mother, brother, sister, one nephew and three nieces. Funeral Service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, at Palm Eastern, 7600 S. Dawn, David was the 1st person I saw the day in March 2017 when I came in for my interview with Chris (and it made me smile and feel like I was home again). D.J. always made me smile and was one of the nicest guys I ever had the pleasure of working with/knowing. I am sad with you/for you and will remember him fondly for the rest of my years. I look forward to seeing you one day to express my condolences and to once again see you smile in hopes that you will celebrate his life...the life of a man who was kind to others. All good things to you and your family and know that the man you loved, was loved by many.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Griffis family on the passing of Dj. I worked with him for a few years at the Bellagio. In that short time, I had a chance to interact with a real class act! He will be missed!!

David was always very kind to me. He and I clicked on so many things from Halloween to our fascination with the band KISS. One of my fondest memories is taking a trip to Universal Studios for his 50th birthday. I will miss him dearly. His son, Max, is the best young man in the entire world. So well-behaved and well-mannered, so full of energy and joy. My heart goes out to Max and Dawn and of course his mother, Kate.

Dear Family of David, I was the next door neighbor on Dennis Way (right behind the Griffis home) in 1976. David and I (my name is Robert Smith) became great friends for the next two years as we both attended Chaparral High School. I spent a lot of time at the Griffis home - I remember his brother Jerry and his Mom and Dad. His Mom was so fun to be around as she put up with us teenagers. His Dad was a bit more serious. Just shortly after David and Dawn's son was born, David called me and I went to the Bellagio Hotel to visit. We thanked each other for the mutual friendship that we had in high school - in 1976 we had both just moved to LV and we didn't know anyone else when we started school. I remember his love for the group 'Kiss' and his wild rock n' roll hair back then. Pong was the only video game - and he was an expert. Seeing his obituary flooded my mind with such wonderful memories. We were two crazy teenagers! I am so sorry for your loss - may great memories of a lifetime ago help you with your loss. He was a great person, and a kind friend. Much love to his Mom and his entire family. Robert Smith
