I feared that Bill was dead when we didn't get our usual newsy Christmas card last year. I finally got up the courage to look him up. We met Bill and Gretchen in Boulder City in 1966 where, Charles was the rector of St Christopher's Episcopal Church and I began a preschool which Richard and Sheila attended. We remained long distance friends all these years! God's Blessing on you all. Amanda and Charles Rines

Almost 37 years ago I lived with and was cared for by Bill and Gretchen Cottrell as a foreign exchange student. As many already know they were good and kind people who treated me as one of their own for the 5 months I was there. I am blessed to have known them and still be in contact with their children. I like so many others will miss the annual newsletter and Christmas card that always felt like a special gift. Thank you both for the difference you made in this Kiwi kid's life. May you always rest in peace. Arohanui Susan

Thanks to everyone who commented here, especially Gus and Diane. I know your names and I know I have met you. Dad was one-of-a-kind and your friendship - along with everyone he ever met - was important to him. Thanks again; long life and peace to you all.

I met Mr. C when I went to work at the Housing Authority of the County of Clark in 1994. He was a strong agency leader but also Had the ability to make you smile.
We shared something in common - his coffee mug and mine were brown inside.
My thought are with his family.

I met Mr. C in 1994 when I went to work for the Housing Authority of the County of CLark.
I enjoyed working for him. After his retirement he would drop in occassisonally and never forgot to say hello.
WE had one thing in common that no one else in the agency had - His coffee cup was as brown inside as mine was.

Cottrell Family; Bill was a wonderful friend & colleague to all of us in the Public Housing Field. He was always available to share his advice & counsel with all who asked. I was truly blessed to know & work with him thru-out my 30-yr career in Yolo County, CA, retiring in 1998 also. He will be missed & remembered by all of us, all over America.

I knew Bill and Gretchen for many years and worked directly for Bill when he was on the Board of the Boulder City Museum and Historical Association. His familiarity with with and love of Nevada history made him a pleasure to work with. I enjoyed our long conversations about Boulder City and national politics, social issues, and other things. I admired and respected his knowledge and dedication. His death is a great loss to all of us.
