Robert A. Cripps

1926 - 2011

Robert A. Cripps, age 84, of Clinton Township, formerly of Saginaw, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center. The son of the late Clifford and Gertrude (Wells) Cripps, Bob was born on August 3, 1926, in Bay City. Bob served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Wichita. He married Pauline M. Henry, his loving wife of 57 years, on October 15, 1953. She survives him. Bob was a salesman for Cadillac Overall Supply for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. Bob was an avid bowler and a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame for his 300 game, when he was 75. He, also, enjoyed golfing, rollerblading and, especially speed skating. Bob enjoyed music and played the guitar. He was a long time Detroit Tigers and Lions fan. Bob and Pauline are charter members of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was a member of American Legion Post #439. Surviving, besides his wife Pauline; are three sons and one daughter, David R. (Gabi Silver) Cripps, of Huntington Woods, Thomas C. Cripps, San Diego, Calif., William J. Cripps, Suwanee, Ga., Sherry L. (Phillip) Patrona, Harrison Township; eight grandchildren, Tatiana, Natalie, Megan, Kelsey, Caroline, Parker, Carson and Blake; sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Brandi, Saginaw; nieces, Dianne, Debi, Patti and Mary. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Paul H. Cripps, on September 25, 1955; and a brother, Clifford D. Cripps, Jr. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Reverend Father Richard Jozwiak will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery, with Military Honors presented by American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty), Saginaw, where the family will be present Tuesday 2-8 p.m., and Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m., until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Pastoral Associate Audrey Wilson, will take place 6 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
