John J. Martin passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024
John was born March 13, 1935, in Painesville, OH. John was the youngest of four children born to John & Marie Martin.
John graduated from Painsville Harvey High School and from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. John was a member of ROTC. After graduation John joined the Air Force attaining the rank of Captain while stationed in Germany.
John was married to Diane Wilson for 51 years before her passing. John & Diane had a beautiful daughter Debora.
After leaving the Air Force, John began working at Packard Electric. He held various positions before his retirement in 1992 as Director of Materials Management / Operations Support. After retirement John formed Excel Enterprises where he did consulting for small business.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed many hobbies but especially gardening, golf, spending time in Florida, and serving on various boards and commissions.
John was very active in St. Robert’s Parish in Cortland serving as President of Parish Council and a dear friend of Fr. Carl Kish.
John leaves to cherish his memory, his grandchildren, Dr. Brigitte (Antonio) Oliverio, David “DJ” Morvay; his great-grandchildren, Leonardo, Valentino and Isabella Oliverio; his son-in-law, David Morvay, DDS and his loving companion, Donna Lyden.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Wilson Martin, his daughter, Debora Martin Morvay, one brother & two sisters.
John’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Lake Vista & Ohio Living Hospice for their care.
Friends and family may call on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Lane Funeral Home, Roberts-Clark Chapel 180 Garfield Dr. NE Warren, OH 44483 from 10:00 -11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM with Fr. Carl Kish officiating. A private burial will follow at Niles City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in John’s name to Someplace Safe, 1340 Tod Ave NW, Warren, OH 44485.
