WINTHROP - William Joseph Rosenbaum, 67, passed away surrounded by his family at Maine General Medical Center, Augusta, on March 14, 2017.
William was born on April 7, 1949, to Bailey and Edith Rumford Rosenbaum in Philadelphia, Pa. Raised in Philadelphia with his brother John, he attended local schools and then Ricker College in Houlton, where he received a degree in political science. He worked for the Maine Department of Human Services from 1972 to 2003 as an administrative hearings officer. He also worked seasonally for L.L.Bean taking catalog orders until, for health reasons, he retired in the spring of 2016.
William married Myra Bradstreet, of Gardiner, in 1979, and moved to Winthrop where they raised their daughters Elizabeth and Kate.
In his younger days, he enjoyed stamp collecting and took flying lessons. As an adult, he has served on the board of trustees for the Bailey Public Library, was a past Master of the Winthrop Grange, and a member of Winthrop Center Friends.
He is survived by his wife Myra; brother John, of Florida; daughters Elizabeth and Kate; granddaughters Breanna and Haley; and several nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at the Winthrop Center Friends Church, 219 Winthrop Center Rd., Winthrop. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
