Dr. Charles Hirsch was my mentor and good friend. I would often sit in his office and talk with him about the cases for the day. Although I worked out in Brooklyn whenever I came to Manhattan he was so inviting. When I did the homicide investigation course I brought my textbook (Spitz and Fisher) to him and asked if he could sign it because he was an editorial contributor. I explained to him that I do this job to make him proud and he said to me "you better do it for you! Or it´s your A**... " I still do the job he trained me to do. Dr. Hirsch You are sorely missed every day. Thank you for the guidance and experience you have given me. Mike. V....

I didn't know him, but my mom talks about him all the time, so I always thought of him like he was someone from our family that I never met. He gave my mom her awesome job and that's where she met my dad. I went there last night to pay my respects because he's a great man and I could tell how much he meant to everybody. I'm sad because everyone will miss him, but I'm glad he was part of our lives.

Seeing Charles & Zoe at Wood Dale Park always made the day even better. Always the gentleman, his kind eyes and warm smile beamed with humanity. My dogs and I were blessed to have seen Charles and Zoe as often as we did. Our condolences to Sophie, Griffin & Spencer...his legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones.

I was a medical student at the University of Cincinnati during Dr Hirsch's tenure as the Director of Forensic pathology of Hamilton County. I will never forget my fourth year elective with him; he was an inspiring teacher and the quintessential gentleman. It breaks my heart to know that his time on this earth has come to an end. I hope his transition was peaceful and send deepest condolences to his daughter and her family.

I knew Dr.Hirsch as a 17 year old Chuck Hirsch in Chicago. He and my deceased husband went to High School together and we were all friends. I remember him as kind, caring and brilliant. Also fun. I had the good fortune to connect with him when I was visiting New York some years ago and we had the opportunity to reminisce about our younger years. I am saddened to learn about his passing and send my condolences to his daughter and grandchildren. May his memory be a blessing to all of us.

I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART FOR CHUCK AS HE WAS MY FIRST LOVE AS A YOUNG TEEN - I ATTENNED HIS FORMAL DANCE AT ST JOHNS MILITARY WHEN WE WERE BOTH FOURTEEN. HE WAS A LOVE THEN AND THE MOST INTELLEGENT PERSON I EVER KNEW.

It is with a heavy heart that I write of the loss of this great man. To me, Dr. Hirsch, was the most dignified, humble, and quite possibly, the greatest human being it will ever be my pleasure to have known. As one of his "students," I was fortunate to have received years of his thoughtful lessons and invaluable insights. These together with the impeccable professionalism which he sought from his staff, and modeled himself on a daily basis, surely has made me a better person. I can say with confidence that he was the greatest boss that anyone could ever have, and though my life took me in a different direction some years ago, nearly a day since has gone by that I've not been reminded of the wisdom he imparted. Through his unparalleled contributions to Forensics, and thus to the Public at large, the world truly sees further "standing upon the shoulders of giants." Sadly, today the world has lost one of these giants.
