Elizabeth Teresa Ney, 92 PORTLAND -- Elizabeth Teresa Ney, 92, of Portland, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Portland. Elizabeth was born in Portland on Jan. 17, 1917. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Elizabeth (Conroy) Leonard. Elizabeth was raised in Portland, the youngest of four children. She attended St. Dominic's Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1935. Elizabeth also graduated from the Mercy (Queen's) Hospital School of Nursing in 1938 and passed her Registered Nursing Examination. Following her graduation, she worked as a nurse at the Mt. She volunteered to serve as camp nurse for a few weeks each summer at the Diocesan children's camps, where she met Martin G. Ney, whom she married and became a life partner until his death in 1984. She was also predeceased by a son, Philip Edward Ney in 1980; two brothers, John M. Leonard and Philip J. Leonard and a sister, Mary C. Leonard. Irene Moreshead asked me to say a little
something about your beloved mother. Irene always called her Teresa. So I had a hard time trying to find her. She wishes you the best through your grief. She really misses your Mother. That was
all she talked about today. She has known her for along time. They had lunch together. God Bless. Even though you've
already been blessed with a wonderful Mother. May God be with you during your
Grief.

Dear Beth and Family: Your Mom will be kept alive in all the hearts of those who knew her.A true lady she was, and loved each and every one of the babies she cared for.
My thoughts are with you. I still remember the Christmas Open House on Rudman Road.
Dear Elizabeth, you will be missed.

Elizabeth was on the same unit as my mom, Vanny Deroche. She frequently reminded me that she had taken care of my aunt, Sr. Gratia when she was in the hospital. I visited her frequently, the last time was this past Saturday, when I was so disturbed to see how sick she was. She told me that she wanted God to take her home. I will dearly miss her when I visit my mom at SJM.

Beth and family,

Please accept my sympathy in the death of your mother.

Elizabeth was my mom's (Belle Hebert) next door neighbor at Deering Pavilion in Portland for nearly three decades. When my mom passed away in 2003, Elizabeth made the supreme effort to attend her funeral mass, even though she was in poor health at the time. I was very touched by her gesture as I know how difficult it was for her to be there.
Then again, this was typical of Elizabeth as she was a very caring person with a big heart. Mom always spoke fondly of Elizabeth and was grateful for her friendship. They shared the same patron saint (Teresa) and now they share their well deserved place in Heaven. If the stars seem a little brighter in the night sky, perhaps it's because of a reunion of two dear friends.
My deepest sympathy and condolences to her family and friends. God bless you!

Dear Miss Elizabeth:

I just wanted to let you and your family know what an inspiration you was to me and my Family when my Dad (Edgar Beaulieu) also was a resident of St Joesph's Manor. Every day on my walk down the hall I would pass your room and we always said hello, and you would always have this great smile on your face which in turn would make me smile. The day my Dad passed away I remeber coming into your room to let you know cause I know you truly cared about him, and we hugged and you said...Susan he is now in a better place, all the Angels have called him home. I know the Angel's have called you home now. You truly was my Angel during my time of grief, and also a GIFT to my Family and I. The funniest moment of our short lived time together was when I found out that your WONDERFUL SON was the man that helped me the day I ran through the showers at the East End Beach Pool and split my head open. He held me in his lap with my head sticking out of a police cruiser all the way to the Hospital, and He was also my Jr High school History Teacher.....remember how we laughed and said what a small world it was. (Mr. Ney I never got a chance to THANK-YOU so I am now). Our Family is Sorry for your Loss, I would love to believe and do believe that all the Resident's that went before your Mom, all Greeted her with her Golden Wings when She entered Heaven. Miss Elizabeth I will miss you

I have fond memories of Elizabeth, she was my mother's roommate at St. Joseph's Manor for a bit. She was always so glad to see us, and always had a treat for Kippy, Mike's sheltie. She loved seeing him come visit. She loved to visit with us and enjoyed her conversations with Mike, and he so enjoyed her too. She made the transition from home to St. Joe's for my mother so much easier with her devotion and interest in making my mother feel welcome. Elizabeth was a great lady, and I think of her often. She will be missed very much. Jackie Ledoux and Mike L'Heureux

Our family will remember Elizabeth's kindness to our mother Marcelle Ledoux who was Elizabeth's roomate at St Joseph's Manor two years ago. It was a hard transition for our mother but Elizabeth helped to make it easier by being such a good friend to our mother. We send our prayers and sympathy to Elizabeth's family.

I was saddened to learn of Elizabeth's passing as I read the paper this morning. Elizabeth was my mother's room mate at St. Joseph's manor for awhile and was so kind and helpful to my mother while she was there. My mother passed away two years ago and I know she was right there to great Elizabeth in Heaven! She was a lovely woman with great courage and always a positive attitude
