Priscilla Hornberger Obituary

Priscilla S. Hornberger, 86 BREMEN -- Priscilla S. 'Peggy' Hornberger, 86, of Bremen, passed away at the Maine Medical Center in Portland on the afternoon of Sept. 4, 2009. Born in Waldoboro on June 6, 1923, she was the daughter of Alfred and Francis (Davis) Storer. Peggy grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools as well as the Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts. Upon graduation, she attended Wellesley College, graduating with her degree in Zoology in 1946. On July 6, 1946, she married H. Richard Hornberger. Together they moved several times while he served his medical residency. In 1961, they settled down in Bremen, where she lived until her passing. Peggy was an accomplished artist, specializing in oil painting for most of her adult life. She loved wildlife, nature, gardening, and in her earlier years she was an avid golfer. She enjoyed volunteer work at various libraries and did so mostly in Bremen and Waldoboro. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Richard Hornberger, MD in 1997; a son, Stephen C. Hornberger in 1991; and her brother, Levitt Storer. She is survived by her four children, William S. Hornberger of Bremen, Karen Hutchins of Waldoboro, James Hornberger of Damariscotta and Anne H. Cannon of Cordova, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jason Crowell, Tawsha Hisler, Stephen Cannon and Ashley Cannon; two great-grandchildren, Lukis Crowell and Sidney Hutchins; as well as two nieces, one nephew and their children. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 1-2 p.m. at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. A time to formally share stories of Peggy will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest privately with her husband in the Hillside Cemetery in Bremen. Hello Willy and Evelyn,
I know I am a little behind in the reading of my newspapers...which puts me a little behind in sending you this note. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss with Willy's mother passing away. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. She is now resting peacefully with your Dad, as I know things were not always easy for your Mom.

Please take care and cherish the memories that you had with your Mom.
