Walter Snarsky Obituary

Walter R. Snarsky, 80
PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Walter R. Snarsky, 80, of Plymouth, Mass., formerly of Brockton, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, in his home, one day shy of his 81st birthday.
He was the loving hus-band of Jayne (Brennan) Snarsky, and the son of the late Walter and Josephine Snarsky. Born Dec. 23, 1936, in Brockton, Walter was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1954; Stonehill College, Class of 1958; and Boston College Graduate School.
Walter was a well-known business education teacher at Brockton High School for over 35 years, and also taught summer and night school in Plymouth for many years. He was respected by all his students and truly loved teaching others. Walter was also an avid golfer and Boston sports fan. Weekend afternoons at the Snarsky house were filled by watching PGA golf tournaments, the New England Patriots or the Boston Red Sox. Jayne and Walter were lifelong fans of the Boston College Eagles football team and enjoyed traveling around the United States to see them play.
Annually, the entire Snarsky family gathers in Hilton Head, S.C., to golf and spend time together. Walter and Jayne cherished their time in Hilton Head with their entire family and friends, and also enjoyed their travels to Hawaii and Ireland.
For the past many years, Walter has fought numerous health battles. While most people would be defeated by the constant challenges, Walter set goals for himself. He wanted to see his grandchildren be married, and graduate from high school and college; and he was fortunate enough to welcome three great-grandchildren into our family. He was lucky enough to live longer than most expected and to see many beautiful life events.
Most of all, Walter loved his wife, Jayne. As an only child, Walter wanted a large family. With Jayne, not only did he get his wish, he was able to have a loving and fulfilling marriage of 57 years.
Jayne tirelessly took care of Walter by making sure he always had the best of care and that he was constantly surrounded by his family and friends. Walter loved his friends and had so much fun with them. His friends were from near and far: Brockton, Plymouth, Stonehill College, Boston College and his retirement community, Great Island.
Throughout his life, Walter drew on his deep Catholic faith. He was a CCD teacher for all of his children, and over the years was an active participant in the Blessed Kateri, St. Peter's and St. Mary's parishes in Plymouth. His Catholic faith, along with his personal goal-setting, got Walter through some of his darkest days.
Walter is survived by Jayne, his devoted wife; and his adoring children, Ann Flynn and her husband Steve, of Holyoke; Judith Snarsky, of Mashpee; Thomas Snarsky and his wife Janelle, of Braintree; and Sara Knowles and her partner Robert Murphy, of Portland, Maine.
Walter adored his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Grandpa Walter. His grandchildren are Michael Flynn and his wife Jaclyn, Brendan Flynn and his wife Korri, John Flynn and his fiancé Shauna Sullivan, Thomas Snarsky, Kaylene Snarsky, Matthew Knowles and Annie Knowles. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Kellan, Ryan and William Flynn.
Walter's funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the
Davis Funeral Home
, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet), followed by a funeral Mass in St. Bonaventure's Church, 803 State Rd., Plymouth, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. For more information, or to sign the online guest book, please visit: www.cartmelldavis.com.

I was so sorry to hear of Walter's passing. I was his Physical Therapist for a time and enjoyed working with him so much. He will be missed. Hugs to Jayne and prayers to all his family that they find comfort in knowing he was a fighter. I was always amazed that no matter what curve ball came his way with his health he never gave up and never quit. RIP Walter.

To Mr. Snarsky's family, I just noticed Walter's obituary online. I was a student at BHS and graduated in 1992. I became friends with Mr. Snarsky and I never forgot him. For years whenever I would mention role models I would always mention 2 teachers I had at BHS and Mr. Snarsky was one of them. Over the years I would think of him. I'll never forget his hand on my shoulder walking down the hallway along with his inspiring words. Sorry for your loss. Walter was a good man.
