Joe Thomas Lanier, Sr.

MANSFIELD: Joe Thomas Lanier, Sr., 64, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, January 9, 2017.

Joe was born September 19, 1952 in Brownsville, TN and was the son of Charlie and Alma (Perry) Lanier. He enjoyed playing baseball, shooting pool, fishing, and watching westerns. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lanier; three sons, Joe (Aisha) Lanier, Jr., Mario Jefferson, and Adrian Lanier; four sisters, Gusta Watkins, Diana Lanier, Paulette Lanier, and Abbie Lanier, all of Brownsville, TN.; three grandchildren, Dariess Lanier, Goldyn Lanier, and Breea Lanier; one Aunt, Lelia Spratley; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives, and friends; special friends, Kenny Jones, Ralph Nixon, Kendell Bethea, Ronnie Bonds, and James Brookins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Kizzie and Lizzie Lanier; brothers, Charlie Lanier Jr., and James Lanier.

Calling hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C, 504 Daisy Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44903. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor William Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Family will receive friends at his home from 4:00-9:00 p.m.

Joe and I worked at the City
I found him to be a very caring, loyal, out of his way helpful gentleman . Not only was I his boss but he was my friend. He will be missed by many.
