Mary C'lette O'Hearn Foltz

MANSFIELD: Mary C'lette O'Hearn Foltz, 91, passed away on September 15, 2014 at Sterling House Mansfield, Ohio.

Mary, the daughter of Rosalia Horning O'Hearn and Arthur O'Hearn, was born on March 12, 1923 in Mansfield, Ohio and graduated from St. Peter's High School in Mansfield in 1941. Mary studied nursing and earned her RN Degree from St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio. After graduation, she volunteered with the Red Cross during the 1946 polio epidemic with patients in Florence, Alabama. She married Sidney A. Foltz on July 26, 1947 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Canton, Ohio. They celebrated 67 wonderful years together and raised four children in their loving home.

Mary received her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Mary's of the Woods College in 1981. She served as a Mansfield City Schools nurse and retired after 17 years of service in 1989. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church for many years where she was active in various ministries. Mary had numerous hobbies. She loved spending time in her gardens and was active in a garden club for many years. She also enjoyed sewing and spending time doing arts and crafts activities with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband, Sidney A. Foltz; children, Sidney Foltz III (Ann), Lynne (Steve) Ahern, Karen (Tom) Victory, Frederic (Merri) Foltz; brother, Robert (Teresa) O'Hearn; sister-in-law, Kathy O'Hearn; grandchildren, Matthew Foltz, Brian (Jessica) Foltz, Beth (Ryan) Ahern Wells, Daniel (Rebecca) Ahern, Emily Foltz, Christen Foltz, Jonathan Foltz; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Landon, and Alayna Foltz, Haley and Mia Wells, Xavier Ahern.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Alice Brink, Arthur O'Hearn, Joann O'Hearn, Richard O'Hearn; and grandson Timothy Ahern.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, on Thursday from 5-8pm with a vigil service at 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Hite officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery.

A special thanks to the staff of Sterling House and Hospice of North Central Ohio for their kind and gentle care of Mary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation for Education, Hospice of North Central Ohio, or an organization of the donor's choice.
