Michael Smith Obituary
MANSFIELD: Michael "Mike" W. Smith, 54, of Mansfield, died early Sunday morning, May 26, 2013 at his home. He was born June 9, 1958 in West Virginia. He graduated from Ontario High School and attended North Central State College studying disability training. A giving man, Mike volunteered with "A Special Wish Foundation" and traveled extensively educating others on the challenges faced by people with disabilities and the American Disability Act.
Mike loved rock music and was an accomplished guitar player. His most treasured moment was playing guitar at the Renaissance Theater with the group, Boston. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing and watching all sports, especially the Cleveland Browns.
He is survived by a son, Ben Smith of Mansfield; a granddaughter, Kimi; two brothers, Jim Smith of Ontario and Scott Smith of Mansfield; a sister, Becky Morris of San Antonio, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim (Butler) Smith, his parents, Harry and Margaret (Bowman) Smith, and his PAWS dog, Sindy.
Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the A Special Wish Foundation, 55 Stewart Ave., Mansfield, OH 44906. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Mike Smith.
