Ernest Munson Obituary

Ernest Enoch Munson
Beloved father, valued friend and faithful servant went home to be with the Lord, July 26th, 2005. Ernie, as many knew him, lived 98 and a half years years, 62 of those in San Anselmo and Fairfax. Ernie was an intelligent, articulate, loving, compassionate man who loved and lived life to the fullest extent.
Ernie was a Nurseryman for Sunnyside Nursery for thirty five years until he retired in 1976. He continued working the annual yard sales until 1991. He served as President of the Redwood Empire Chapter's Association of Nurserymen 1968-69 and also was an active member of the Marin Rod and Gun Club.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Ernie spent his youth in Garfield, Utah and moved to San Jose, California for his high school years.
He married Grace Isabel, his love for over 50 years, in 1941, and together they raised three children: Robert Edward of Washington D.C., Donald Ernest of Fairfax, and Marylyn Jones of Upland, Calif. In addition to his children, Ernie leaves behind five grandchildren: Jeanine Linn of Phoenix, Donna Brewer of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gabrielle Loiselle of Ladera Ranch, Calif., Evie Munson of Washington D.C., and Colin Munson of Los Angeles, Calif., and three and a half great grandchildren.
Ernie was an avid gardener, nurturing his many orchid plants, furnishing bowls of fresh raspberries and various arrays of fruits and vegetables to neighbors and friends, and he was always ready to rescue a plant that seemed doomed.
Memorial Services will be held honoring Ernie's life at the San Geronimo Presbyterian Church on August 21st at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Marin Foundation.
