James Arthur Oberg

1940 - 2017

James Arthur Oberg Of Mill Valley, CA, died September 11, 2017 at his home in Mill Valley. James was born on July 24, 1940 in Spokane, Washington. He married his sweetheart, Ann Roby, on July 15, 1967 after a San Francisco romance. He is survived by his wife Ann, his daughters Theresa, Lori, Lisa, Michelle, Christina and Nata, 8 grandchildren, his 4 sisters and their families and his brother Paul. James attended Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, Washington, Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, and California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo, CA. He served in the Army from 1962-65 and worked as an engineer at IBM until his retirement in 1995. James was a volunteer firefighter with Southern Marin FD and served as Fire Commissioner for several years. He enjoyed fishing, veggie gardening, coaching baseball, bowling, and advising referees in a variety of youth sports on their ability to accurately see a foul or miss a flag on a play. A memorial mass and reception will be held on Saturday, September 30 at 11:00am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mill Valley, CA.
