Daniel Shoemaker Obituary
MORRAL: Daniel R. Shoemaker, age 73, of Morral died peacefully at home Monday, August 20, 2012 in the care of love ones. Dan was born October 10, 1938 in Marion to the late Donald and Isabelle (Hacker) Shoemaker.
He served in the U.S. Army then worked for Erie Kackawana Railroad, Anheuser Bush Recycling and Kable Fulfillment Corp.
Dan is survived by his loving companion and soul mate, Vicki M. Moser of Morral; son, David A. (Jennifer) Shoemaker of Morral; sister, Mary L. (William) Perry of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rhetta Strohl and Ruth Riester;two brothers, Bob and Don Shoemaker; and his son, Danny Joe Shoemaker.
In the 1960's and 70's, he was avid and active in Fast Pitch Softball and in the past years he was active in YMCA programs where he enjoyed many friendships. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting.
Public graveside service will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, August 24, 2012 at St. Mary's Cemetery with Fr. Michael Nimocks officiating. Also Veteran services will be conducted by Marion County United Veteran's Council.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion YMCA and Marion General Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are being handled through Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Directors.
