FLEMINGSBURG — Thelma Jean Rigdon, 83, of Flemingsburg, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.
She was the widow of Delbert Ray Rigdon.
Born in Fleming County on August 1, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Robert Samuel Lee and the late Edna Opal James Lee.
Thelma Jean was one of the first people in Fleming County to receive a GED.
She worked as a store clerk for 51 years, working for the Mount Carmel store and as a dietician's aide at Fleming County Hospital.
She was a member of the Kentucky Christian Holiness Church in Flemingsburg.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Rigdon Vise and husband, Mike; her three grandchildren, Ashley Rigdon, Amber (Danny) Hamilton, and Brandon (Kelly) Vise; her four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Paige Eddington, Dale Craig Eddington III, Gideon Vise, and Andrew Hamilton. She is also survived by four of her siblings, Jenny (Sam) Newsom, Joyce Isaacs, Susie Dotson, and Linda Kay Vanhoose; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her parents and Delbert Ray, her husband of 57 years, Thelma Jean was preceded in death by her son, Michael Rigdon; her sister, Edna Rigdon; her brother, David Lee; along with an infant brother and an infant sister.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Brother John Lewis and Brother Mike Vise officiating.
Thelma Jean will be laid to rest in Fleming County Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Ashley Rigdon, Brandon Vise, Danny Hamilton, Rick Newsom, Dale Craig Eddington III, and Andrew Hamilton.
Honorary pallbearers include Henry Cropper, June Himes, Georgia Cropper, Regina Rose, Emma Fultz, Eula Flora, Tammy Emmons, Charles Hurst, and Hoppy Himes.
Visitation will be noon until the hour of service at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Boone-Nickell.
In place of flowers, donations to help offset funeral expenses may be made to the funeral home.
