Mr. Lester Lee Morris, 70, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, May 7th, 2014.
He was born on September 28th, 1943 in Short Creek, the son of the late V.L. and Lucille (Young) Morris. He was a graduate of Caneyville High School. He and his family moved to Georgia in 1983 where he served as supervisor for the ConTel Service Center. He retired from Verizon in 1993 after 29 years. After retiring from Verizon, he worked for 15 years for Preferred Office Supply in LaFayette, GA. He was a member of the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons. Lester was also a member of the Gideon's.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy Ashley Morris and his daughter, Kristi Morris both of LaFayette, GA; his sister, Shelba Cummings of Bowling Green; 2 nephews, Barry Cummings (Lisa) also of Bowling Green and Scott Cummings (Sara) of Smiths Grove; 4 great nephews and 2 great nieces.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 11th at 2:00 pm at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Saturday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
