Dr. James V. Wehner
April 21, 2024
Siegfried and I were fellow-graduate students in the Dept. of Germanic and Slavic Languages at Vanderbilt University and I valued his friendship. I have fond memories of the times several of us working late in the Department would take a break and drive to Krispy Kreme for a doughnut and coffee and stimulating conversation. I was a guest of Siegfried and his wife one time on a visit to VMI. In 1977 we were fellow-participants in a post-graduate National Endowment for the Humanities summer seminar focusing on the German Novelle, led by Prof. Henry H.H. Remak, which certainly inspired one his two book publications.
I was sorry to hear of his untimely death and still think of him sometimes 20 years later.
