David Lockman, 83, of Glenwood, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, May 27, 2021, at his residence.
David was born Oct. 12, 1937, in McDowell County, to the late David Columbus Lockman and Addie Sarah Jane Owenby Lockman. He was self-employed, working in the flooring industry. He was a very hard worker. David was a gentle, kind and soft spoken man. He was a man of faith and a devoted husband and father. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, gardening and sightseeing. He will forever be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Frances Poteat Lockman; and nine siblings.
Those left behind to cherish David's memory are two daughters, Teresa Edwards (Eugene "Mouse") of Nebo and Brenda Willis (Steven) of Vale; two grandsons, Greg Bailey (Ashlee) and Chris Bailey (Kaleena); and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Kiann.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 29, in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. A funeral service to celebrate David's life will follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home with Preacher Steven Propst officiating. Burial will follow the service in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. In the family's care and concern for others, they ask that all who attend to wear a mask.
