Robert Spencer "Bob" Bomar

Mr. Robert ("Bob") Spencer Bomar, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He was 79 years old. Bob was born in LaFayette, Georgia and raised by his parents Edwin Armpstead Bomar and Mary Nettie Greeson Bomar. He graduated from LaFayette High School and subsequently earned a bachelor's degree (1966) and a law degree (1968) from the University of Georgia.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Betty Lawrence Hix Bomar. Together, they had one son, Spencer Armpstead Bomar, and settled in Marietta and Kennesaw, Georgia for many years.

Bob loyally served the State of Georgia for more than 30 years practicing law in the Georgia Attorney General's office. He was honored by Emory Law School's Public Interest Committee (EPIC) at the end of his career for a lifetime commitment to public service and extraordinary work in the public interest.

Bob was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Georgia where he served as an adult Sunday school teacher, a middle school youth group advisor, a deacon, and an elder. Bob was a devoted husband and father who lived life with humility, dignity, and a great love for his family. He enjoyed following Georgia Bulldogs football, reading, fishing, and many pet dogs who were like family members to him.

Bob is survived by his wife, Betty Lawrence Hix Bomar; his son, Spencer Armpstead Bomar; his daughter-in-law, Susan DeAnn Thomas Bomar; his grandson, Thomas Spencer Yeichan Bomar; his sister, Connie Elizabeth Bomar Forester; as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00p.m. on January 17, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association are appreciated.
