Wake Village, Texas - Monty Charles Tomlinson was born July 17, 1943, to Robert Lewis and Edith (Haynes) Tomlinson in Merced Ca, The eighth of nine children in all. His family would eventually move to Hayward Ca, but after a short while he would return to Merced where he lived with his Uncle Will and Aunt Nadine Haynes and begin working at the El Capitan Hotel. At the age of 17 his cousin Linda Lee would introduce him to Linda Lefler who would later become his loving wife of 60 years, they would raise a family of their own and remain in Merced for 75 years. His Family would soon return and there they made many lifelong friends and created countless memories for us all to cherish. He worked for Flintkote Construction, later known as Western Stone Product's, as a member of the International Laborer's Union Local 1130 for 32 years. After retiring, he would later return to work for the Merced River School District as the Operations Manager for 10 years. He truly loved this job where he made many friends and was a big hit with the students who chose to dedicate their 2002 yearbook to him for all his contributions, hard work and dedication to all of them. He was deeply committed to loving his entire family and all his friends and had a strong passion to help anyone in need. Keeping with his family roots, he found his hobby in fixing and restoring old cars. He would spend many years driving race cars at his favorite track Merced Speedway. In November of 2020, he and Linda moved to the town of Wake Village Texas, where they remained until his death on September 22, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monalin Tomlinson; father and mother, Lewis & Edith Tomlinson; brothers, Bobby Tomlinson, Billy Tomlinson; sisters, Patricia Riling, Helen Bryan and Nina-Faye Fisher.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; sons, Monty Tomlinson (Megan Neilson), Jeff Tomlinson (Renee); brother, TC (Lois) Tomlinson; sisters, Wilma Jean Birmingham, Bertha Gillispie; grandchildren, Marcus, Logan, Olivia, Branson, Jeffrey, Kayla; and 10 great-grandchildren
A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, Friday, November 11, 2022 at Yosemite Church 2230 E. Yosemite Ave Merced CA 95340.
