Eric Leonard Dorman

Eric Leonard Dorman Passed away on August 20, 2004 at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona with his beloved wife Diane at his side. He will be greatly missed by his family: Jessica (Janie) Palmer, David Dorman, Lori Sanzeri, Robin White and Robert White, Jr., and his grandchildren Max Palmer, Samantha and Zachary Dorman, and Nicholas and Hunter Sanzeri; his sisters Joyce Barker of Manchester, England and sister Doreen Dorman Heine of Orlando, Florida.

Eric was born November 17, 1932 in Manchester, England and emigrated to Canada in his early 20's. He moved his family to San Jose in 1966 where they were members of San Jose Swim & Racquet Club for many happy years. A lithographer by trade, Eric was a fun-loving natural athlete who excelled at tennis, golf, badminton and soccer and in recent years played a mean game of bocci ball winning silver medals in the Sr. Olympics. He was a very patient instructor and taught his children a healthy love of sport. He was an avid sports fan (Sharks, 49ers, tennis, bicycling, baseball, Little League) and a longstanding, enthusiastic supporter of Manchester United Football Club.

In 1990 Eric and Diane bought a home in Arnold, California and retired there in 1994 where he was a member of the Lions Club for a few years. In 2000 they moved to Tucson, Arizona where they became dedicated volunteers for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates Program) to help abused children and won the Judges Choice award this year for outstanding service to children.

Eric will be remembered as a very kind and gentle man whose smile and love inspired everyone he met and his quick wit will always be treasured by his family and friends.

A service and celebration of his life will be held in early October in Tucson, Arizona. Memorial contributions in Eric's name may be made to the Arizona Counsel for CASA, Inc., P.O. Box 36017, Tucson, AZ 85740, or to a charity of your choice.
