Gerhard(Gary)Rohloff, 90 of Los Gatos passed away at his home February 25, 2018.
Born September 10, 1927 in Hamburg,Germany, the first of two children to Carl and Alice(nee Leidecker) Rohloff. After finishing school, he apprenticed as a Telephone & Telegraph Technician. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 and worked for the Canadian National Telephone Company in Edmonton. Where he met and married Rosemarie Rohloff (nee Dinter)in 1954, they divorced in 1977. They had a son Dirk Rohloff in 1955 and moved to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, where their daughter Alice was born in 1956. In 1959 the family moved to Vancouver, Canada and from their immigrated to California in 1962. They started a business, Pacific Water Art, building fountains and water displays, which now belongs to his son Dirk Rohloff. Gerhard's younger brother Arno Rohloff, immigrated in 1968 from Hamburg to Mountain View. Gerhard loved the outdoors, an avid sailor, he enjoyed hiking, photography, and was a member of the Sierra Club.
Gerhard is survived by two children and their spouses, Dirk (Julie) Rohloff, Alice Rost (Joe Martineau), four grandchildren, Kendra Pettit, Sarah Olson, Daniel Rost and Erika Rohloff, the joy of his life. Along with four great-grandchildren, Milton Pettit, Josiah Pettit, Jace Olson and Finley Olson. A brother Arno Rohloff.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on March 19, 2018, at 2:00, Darling and Fischer Chapel on the hill, 615 North Santa Cruz Ave., Los Gatos. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Save the Bay.
