JIm Taylor was my roommate during my first two years at Santa Clara. In addition to being an all around good guy and friend Jim was a superb athlete and a leader of the Santa Clara basketball team. As a Sophomore Jim was assigned to guard Seattle University future All American and future NBA Hall of fame player Elgin Baylor on two consecutive nights. Not only did Jim hold Baylor to below his usual high scoring average but his defense against Baylor in the second game which included Jim stealing the ball from Baylor and going the length of the court for a high flying dunk basket that was a Key to a Santa Clara
upset victory. RIP Jim
