Loran J. Tardy Sr.
Loran J. Tardy Sr., 70, lifelong resident of Buck Lake, Minn., died Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Sandy's home in Eveleth, Minn.
He was born December 16, 1952, to Alduane and Bernice (Littler) Tardy in Hibbing, Minn. Loran held various jobs throughout his career. He was a Welder for National Steel, was an over the road trucker, and he owned and operated a bus company to name a few. He was a member of the Iron Range Racing Association. His passion was racing and being at the track. Loran enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and sitting around the campfire. In his earlier years, Loran became an excellent boxer and was a member of Golden Gloves. He loved his grandchildren very much.
Loran is survived by his beloved partner, Sandy Pogachnik, Eveleth, Minn.; his children, John (Stephanie) Tardy, Chisholm, Minn., Jeffrey Tardy, Hibbing, Minn., Loran (Heather) Tardy Jr., East Bethel, Minn., and Eric (Alicia) Tardy, Nashwauk, Minn.; brother, Harlan (Sharon) Tardy Sr., Buck Lake, Minn.; sister, Denise (Mickey) Hill, Nashwauk, Minn.; twelve grandchildren: Addison, Blake, Andrew, Carson, Riddick, Chloe, Hunter, Willow, Brooklyn, Tyson, Alana, and Paige; brothers-in-law, Larry (Jackie) Koppes and Paul Stanina, both of Buck Lake, Minn., along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Diane Tardy; brother-in-law, Duane Koppes; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Stanina.
A celebration of Loran's life will be at the Buck Lake Community Center on Friday, December 22, 2023. The event will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. for close friends and family members and will then continue from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. for the public and the entire racing community.
