Roland T. "Ronnie" Gracey, 93, of Bad Axe, Michigan, passed away on May 13, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 22, 1927 in Goodrich, Michigan. Roland was very blessed to have been adopted by his parents, the late Theodore and Mary (Litt) Gracey.
Roland grew up in Ubly, Michigan, and graduated from Ubly High School in 1944. On October 7, 1950, he married the love of his life, Genevieve Morell, at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2020.
Roland farmed for a number of years until he went to work at Hamill Manufacturing in Ubly. During his retirement, Roland worked part time for Signature Bank in Bad Axe and Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly.
Roland enjoyed playing cards and watching sports, particularly the Detroit Tigers and Michigan State football and basketball. He especially cherished spending time with his family.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Genevieve Gracey; six children: Marlene (Joe) Particka of Ubly; Don (Diane) Gracey of Bay City; Kevin (Diane) Gracey of Ubly; Charlie Gracey of Bay City; Steve (Jackie) Gracey of Ubly; and Myron (Christin) Gracey of Holly.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Rick Glaza, Stephanie (Steve) Wood, Jason (Misti) Particka, Kim (Jerry) Jones, Angela (Brian) Gregory, Chad (Josette) Gracey, Amber Smalley, Nathan Smalley, Jessica Gracey, Nicholas Gracey, Paul Najor and Alicia Lee; 10 great grandchildren, Samantha, Matt, Adriana, Jami, Tyler, Alyson, Garrett, Jaxon, Jagger and Calissa; brother-in-law, Emerson Kennedy of Cass City; sister-in-law, Bernice (Stanley) Witkowski of Saginaw; and several nieces and nephews.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Isadore and Josephine Morell; his sister, Maxine Kennedy; brothers-in-law: John (Ann) Morell, Arthur (Pauline) Morell, Mike Morell, Floyd (Lorraine) Morell; sisters-in-law: Sophie (Cass) Kubacki, Irene (Fred) Guarnieri and Margaret (Bob) Hey; daughter-in-law, Gina Gracey.
The Mass of Christian burial for Roland will be at 12:00 pm Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at St. Hubert Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Bad Axe, Michigan. Rev. T.J. Fleming, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery, Ubly, Michigan. Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the service time at 12:00 pm.
