Evelyn (Buza) Murphy, 89, of Middletown, wife of the late J. Stephen Murphy, died peacefully Saturday, September 18, 2021 at her home with family at her side. Born in Peckville, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1931 she was the youngest daughter of the late Bolace and Belle (Lojewski) Buza. A 1953 graduate of Penn State University she went on to serve as a 2nd Lieutenant with the U.S Public Health Services. She met and married the love of her life Steve in 1955 and together they moved to Middletown to raise their family. She enjoyed a Penn State Football game, UCONN Women's Basketball, the crossword, a good book, vacations on Cape Cod with her family and time with friends. She was a Communicant of Saint Pius X Church and a member of the Founding Families. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her husband of sixty-six years, J. Stephen, her son David W. Murphy and siblings, Vincent Buza, Theodore Buza, Antoinette Cullen, Ceil Prodny, Belle Kassib and Dorothy Bartkowski. She is survived by a son, Stephen Murphy and his wife Stephanie of Lutherville, MD. Daughters, Pam Murphy of Woodsville, NH and Cindy Lastrina and her husband Louie of Middletown, CT. Six grandchildren, Chelsea Murphy of Washington DC, Eric Murphy of San Francisco, CA, Shannon Murphy of Durham, NC, Rebecca Murphy of NY, NY, Kathryn Lastrina of Cincinnati, OH and Grace Lastrina of Middletown, CT. and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday at Saint Pius X Church at 11 a.m. Friends may gather prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Church.
