ROXANNE PATTERSON Obituary
Born Feb. 14, 1952, in Rockford, to Gordon and Helen (Smith) Glendenning, she graduated from Kirkland Hiawatha High School and attended Southern Illinois University. She married Jim Patterson Oct. 3, 1975. Roxie loved and enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, card club, cheering on the Chicago Bears and playing with her dog Mia. She enjoyed many years of employment at Hauser-Ross Eye Institute in Sycamore.
Survivors include husband; mother, Helen Glendenning; sisters, Vicki (Curt) Maveus and Sally (John) Bruch of Kirkland; brother, Milo (Kimberlee) Glendenning of Rockford; stepchildren, James (Angela Piper) Patterson Jr. of New Jersey and Cindi (Trent) Widener of Bothell, Wash.; grandchildren, Joseph, Henry and John Piper and Ella Marie Patterson, all of Collingswood, N.J., and Alannah, Nathan and Vivian-lyn Julene Widener of Bothell; sisters-in-law, Bess (Ken) Anderson of Sycamore and Lydia (Steve) Johnson of Davis; nieces and nephews, Julie Snyder of Rockford, Laura (Seth) Nordstrum of Kenosha, Wis., Paul Glendenning of Cherry Valley, Jill (Josh) Wendell of Belvidere, Nick (Jessica) Maveus of Rockford, Carl Bruch of Kirkland, Nicholas (Michelle) Andersen, Mathew (Julie) Andersen and Sara Burchard, all of Sycamore, Jennifer (Jason) Williams of Marietta, Ga., Martha (Terry) Carlson of Plano, and Capt. Brad Johnson and Andrea Johnson of Omaha, Neb.; and numerous great-nieces and-nephews.
She was predeceased by her father; father- and mother-in-law, Ralph Patterson and Bernice Herrmann; step-father-in-law, Harold Herrmann; stepson, Roy Patterson; and nephew, Daniel Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Quiram Kirkland Chapel, 309 S. Fifth St., Kirkland, with Pastor Pam Rossmiller of Kirkland First United Methodist Church officiating, and burial at Maple Cemetery, Kirkland. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the funeral chapel, 815-522-3563.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kirkland Historical Society in Roxanne's memory.

Jim & Family -- I was so sorry to hear about Roxi's death - I have great memories of our days at Hiawatha High as Pom Pom Girls. She was one of my good friends. I haven't seen her for a long time but I'm sure her smile will be missed for a long time - my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I am shocked to hear of Roxi's sudden passing. She was so much fun to be around. I have many wonderful memories from our camping trips and our trips to the dunes. My prayers are for peace for her family as you learn to live without her here with you, until you meet again.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Roxie's passing. I pray that when you remember her you will not think of her as being "gone," -- but rather as having "moved" to her new home where she is anxiously awaiting the day when she will again hold all of you with tears of joy and love. Roxie was a delightful person...one of the nicest people I have ever met. She had a great attitude, always smiled and was so patient. She had a gift of making everyone feel special. I'm so sorry she's gone. I am blessed to have known her.
