Ray Emory Potter

RAY EMORY POTTER
SEPTEMBER 21, 1932 - MAY 16, 2016
 Ray was born in Marshall, ARK, to parents Emery and Abrey (Ray) Potter. He died unexpectedly May 16th. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Hollene Lewis, Evelyn Shumaker and brother Paul Potter. He leaves behind his wife Lorella, six children: Malinda Lundborg (Craig), Sharon Jenkins (Cameron), Gloria Taylor, Ray W. Potter (Debbie), Icea Lam (Will), and Hollene Potter; 8 grandchildren Brenda, Candace, Cody, Chelsea, Cole, Danny, Kimberly, and Toby and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, with over 5 years of his commission on foreign soil or at sea. He fought in the Korean war and Vietnam conflict. After retiring from the Navv he pursued many interests. He raised bees, bred quarter horses and thoroughbred horses, was a painter, had a hay business and was a successful goat farmer. He was the oldest member of the Rarin FCU.
He enjoyed his vegetable garden, driving his truck, hauling hay, raising goats, and eating at Happy Burger. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with family
He was a member of Mariposa Assembly of God Church for 32 years. He had a strong faith in his Lord Jesus and we will see him one day in heaven. He will be remembered for his faith in Christ, a quick wit, a strong work ethic and a love for family.
A graveside service will be held with military honors at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Rd., Santa Nella, CA, Tuesday, May 31st at 1:00pm with a reception following. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Salas Brother Funeral Chapel Modesto, CA.
