June Kurtzbein June Kurtzbein of Montevideo passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, at CCM Health in Montevideo at the age of 84. Private services will be held. June Marian Sunderland was born June 3, 1938, in Montevideo to Harry and Elsie (Mills) Sunderland, the youngest of seven children. She was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Kurtzbein on June 11, 1955, in Montevideo. They made their home in Montevideo and to this union four children were born. June was an active member of United Methodist Church in Montevideo where she was always willing to help. She was an advanced sewer and sewed many clothes for her children and grandchildren and made quilts from the scraps. Ultimately June enjoyed spending time with her family and was known for her teddy bear shaped pancakes. She is survived by her children, Kim Velde of Montevideo and Heidi (Arlin) Bergo of Montevideo; grandchildren, Bess (Bergen) Johnson of Milan, Birk Hofstad of Montevideo, Elijah (Erin) Bergo of Montevideo and Becca (Truman) Rice of Montevideo; great-grandchildren, Tosten Johnson and Torgen Johnson; siblings, Janis (Dalen) Caspers of Clara City, and Kenny (Sandy) Sunderland; and other extended family and friends. June was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert E.; sons, Robert M. and Paul; sisters, Thema (Bill) McGuigen, Ardis (Elmer) Maus, Jean Hanson; brother, Dale (Kathy) Sunderland; and four nephews.
