How does one even begin to express the words. To the loved ones of David... I am so sorry for your loss,Your grief must be overwhelming. My heart and prayers are with you. Growing up on the docks it is hard to think back to my teens and not have Rowdy in the memories. His casual stroll up and down the docks armed with a kind word a disarming smile, quick wit and a passion for the sea and all things related. His devotion to family unyielding. Joey your daddy was a noble man, a kind soul, and the kind of man you learn to be a better person from because he was in your life.He taught me courage, conviction, and how to be true to myself. I feel blessed to have known him.Thank you Rowdy for being my friend. Here's hoping Heaven is full of highliners and your bringing in the motherload. Fish On!

Dearest Pennisi Family,

I can remember when I was young, living across the street from your family. All of the Pennisi children and I would play at the "lot" and Rowdy would always play with us and we would have such a great time. Mrs. Pennisi, you are such a wonderful person. When my grandmother died you were there always asking if you could do something for us. Thank you. John & Joey, I can't imagine how you must feel. I'm so very sorry. If there is anything I can do please let me know. You are the greatest family I know. I'm so very sorry.

My sincerest sympathies to the entire Pennisi family.

One of my most favorite memories of Rowdy was of him in the swimming pool at Chamisal. Every kid in the pool was on his back. He had this HUGE smile on his face and acted as though he was everyone's Dad. He was loving every moment of it. He was fun. He was kind. He was very special. The world is certainly a little darker without him. God Bless the entire family. Especially his wife Patty and baby boy Joey. Our prayers are with all of you.

Love,

The Mudd Family

My dear Rowdy,

I don't know that I ever thanked you for introducing me to the best friend I could ever imagine having. Through you and Barbie, I was welcomed into a family I now consider my own. Thank You. I miss your big, easy grin, laughter and those great hugs that only you could give. I'll be listening for your laughter in the waves and the feel of you hugs in the wind.

I miss you, my friend.

I send my deepest sympathies to the Pennisi Family. John, my thoughts are with you and all of us who love the ocean.

A memory for Rowdy's children: Rowdy's warm and gentle nature was disarming and he could quickly speak to you as if he had known you your whole life. The first time I met Rowdy I was pregnant and had shuttle duty for a NMFS research cruise on Irene's Way. Within minutes of meeting Rowdy, he had me deep in conversation explaining how happy I was going to be once my son was born. He went on and on about how he loved being a father and how much fun he was having with his kids. He was truly excited for me through his own love for you.

Rowdy was a good friend and shipmate. His loss affects us all. Words are not adequate to explain how much he will be missed.
