Mary Davenport Obituary

In loving memory of Mary Ann Davenport, affectionately known as "Darlin" to her cherished grandchildren, we honor a remarkable wife, mother, and grandmother who passed on March 8, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 85. Born on November 14th, 1938, in Salt Lake City to Clair and Kay Barrett.

Mary Ann grew up in Montpelier, Idaho. Graduating from Montpelier High School in 1956, she was very active in high school activities. She was active in choir, student government, and the pep squad. Her passion for education led her to Utah State University, where she earned a BA in business education. While at Utah State, Mary Ann thrived as a leader, serving as President of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and later as Panhellenic President.

It was during their time at Utah State that Jim and Mary Ann met. They were married August 15, 1960 in Montpelier. They built a life centered on family and community. Alongside her parents, Clair and Kay Barrett, Jim and Mary Ann built a floral and insurance business in Montpelier.

Mary Ann's talents extended into the realm of music. She lent her voice to numerous community and church choirs. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

While living in Idaho, Jim and Mary Ann shared countless cherished memories of trips to Teton Park to fish.

Upon retirement, Mary Ann and Jim relocated to Tucson, AZ, where they enjoyed 25 years of sunshine, golfing, and fellowship within their vibrant community. She was an avid bridge player.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving husband, Jim, her children Laura Fidler (Phil) and Craig Davenport (Jessica), and her adoring grandchildren, Jamie, Alex, Joshua, and Grace.

In celebration of Mary Ann's life, please join us to honor her at a gathering to be held on Saturday, May 18th, from 1-3 pm, at 97 Blue Sage Drive, Fish Haven, Idaho.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care staff at Canyon's Hospice in Salt Lake City, whose unwavering support brought comfort and peace to Mary Ann in her final years.
