Bobby Hall Obituary

Bobby Lee Hall MORGANTON Bobby Lee Hall, 77, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Autumn Care of Drexel. He was born May 1, 1936, in Washington, D.C., the son of Jesse B. and Virgie Shelton Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Juanita Hall Hart, of Springtown, Texas; brother, Arnold C. Hall, of Greensboro; and adopted brother, David Stewart, of Fayetteville. Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Theola Stewart Hall, of the home; and a brother, Jesse B. Hall, of The Villages, Fla.; a special niece, Janet Hall Enos and husband, Jerry, of Winston-Salem; and nephews, Robert Hall, of Alexandria, Va., Steven Hall, of Warrenton, Va., Garry Hall, CPT, U.S. Navy (Ret.) of Manassas, Va., and Russell Hall, of Fulton, Va. Also surviving are adopted brothers, Kenneth Stewart and wife, Edna, of Savannah, Ga., Jerry Stewart, of Morganton, and Lee Stewart and wife, Barbara, of Morganton. Bobby graduated from Anacostia High School and attended Strayer College of Accounting in Washington, D.C. He met his soul mate, Theola, at Washington Heights Baptist Church. They became engaged to be married, and had a military wedding in Theola's hometown of Morganton on April 20, 1957. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served the majority of his military career at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. He had overseas assignments in Okinawa, Newfoundland, and Vietnam. Later, he was employed by Time-Life Circulation Co. He was promoted to manager of the San Antonio, Texas, office where they made their home. After returning to Morganton in 1970, Bob received a B.A. degree in Business Administration from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory. He was employed at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center (formerly Western Carolina Center) as Administrative Assistant for the Family, Infant and Preschool Program from which he retired in 1996. At the age of 10, Bob was baptized into the Christian faith at Grace Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. During his years in North Carolina, he supported his church at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church as Deacon, Treasurer, Finance Committee Chairman, and a member of the choir. His love of music led him to join Burkemont Baptist Church where he became a member of the Adult Choir and Golden Voices. He was also a member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Revs. Dr. David Mills and Brian Skeggs officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, the "Above and Beyond Building Fund," 4668 Burkemont Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
