Dr. John Tsan Hsiang Chen
On December 9, 2020, Dr. John Tsan Hsiang Chen, age 83, passed away from complications with Covid-19.
Dr. Chen was preceded in death by his wife Chen Hwang Yu-Eng, his father Chen Tsu Fong, and his mother, Chen-Lu Bao Gwan.
He is survived by his second wife, Chen Lu Ju Jung, his sister Lin Sway-Eng Chen; his brothers Chen Tsan Ming and Chen Tsan Guan; his son, James (Karen) Chen; daughter, Susan Chen; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Dr. Chen was born February 11, 1937 in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China. He served in the Taiwanese Army. He received his BED from National Taiwan Normal University, a Master's Degree from Stout State University and another Master's Degree from Marquette University, finishing his higher education with a Ph.D from the University of Missouri. He worked at Gateway Technical College, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Pittsburg State University, where he retired.
At home, he was a husband, father, and known as Ahgong to his grandchildren, and Ajzoh to his great-grandchildren. He was celebrated in his field of mechanical engineering technology and was a proud supporter of Pittsburg State University. Dr. Chen loved to fish, play table tennis and bowling.
His body has been cremated and a private memorial service is being planned at a later date.
