Mary Kilbride Obituary

Mary Ann Kilbride

Born: August 12, 1934

Died: November 9, 2016

Mary Ann Kilbride, age 82, of Coal City, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Morris Hospital.

Born August 12, 1934 in South Wilmington, Mary Ann was a daughter of the late William "Sacs" and Antoinette (Boggetto) Kriz. She was raised in Coal City and graduated with the Coal City High School Class of 1950.0051. In her earlier years, Mary Ann worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at the Joliet Arsenal, Bechtel Chemical and later Dresden Nuclear Station. She retired from the Grundy County Highway Department after 20 years of service, and was currently working for the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City, where she was involved with The Martha's. Mary Ann was a member of the Restoration Advisor Board, which is the group involved with the environmental cleanup of the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant and was proud to have received recognition for her efforts at the cleanup completion ceremony. In addition, she volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for the Thursday Memorial Squad, where she folded and presented the flag to bereaved veteran families. Mary Ann was a volunteer for Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice; belonged to the Library Book Club, and was an Election Judge for the Grundy County Clerks Office.

She will be remembered for her enjoyment of ceramics and crafting; reading and watching mysteries. Mary Ann took pleasure in cooking and shopping, and shared many memorable trips traveling and cruising. She loved spending time with her friends, and in past years being a part of "The Ranch Girls". Her grandchildren were precious to her, and Mary Ann cherished all the time spent with each of them.

Survivors include her two daughters, Nina Ann Marie Kilbride-Sheehan of Naperville and Gina (Ken) Schock of Morris; four grandchildren, Gianna Schock, Austin Sheehan, Broderick "Brody" Schock and Trinity Schock; and numerous cousins, as well as a host of friends.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents.
