Betty J. Kimes, age 90, of Cardington, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at Knox Community Hospital.
Betty was born on April 29, 1928, in Columbus, OH, to the late William H. and Nancy A. (Ankrom) Barr.
For over 30 years, Betty worked as a teacher's aide with Windsor Elementary School. After working as a teacher's aide, she worked in laundry for Hampton Inn.
Betty was a member of Sparta United Methodist Church. She was active within the church as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Leader, and often helped with the Christmas Parties. Betty also was a member of the 50 plus club and did many of the Walks for Emmaus.
Spending time with family was the most important priority for Betty. Her kids, grandkids, great and great-great grandkids were the light of her life. She loved playing cards and Yahtzee with her grandkids. Betty also enjoyed reading and completed many crossword puzzle books over the years. Her unconditional love outshined everything as she never judged and you could never do anything wrong. Simply put, she was everyone's best friend.
She will be dearly missed by her children: Nancy (Roy) Adair, John (Ginny) Kimes, Bob Kimes, Ray Jr. (Bev) Kimes, Randy (Kathy) Kimes, Mike Kimes, Ronnie (Judy Leech) Kimes; grandchildren: Carla, Sara, Misty,
Chris, Bo, Paula, Tom, Jennifer, Robert, David, Tikki, Donnie, Brittany, Tony, Jason, Michael, Lila, Ron Jr., Bridget, Kyle, and Lee; at least 16 great grandkids; several great-great grandkids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Kimes; grandson, Andy; and siblings: Jack, Mary, Annie, Florence, Goldie, Harry, Charlie, Bill and Della.
Her family will greet friends from 4 to 7 PM, Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mt. Gilead, OH 43338) Services honoring her life will be held there on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at 11 AM, with Pastor Ryan Skelton officiating.
Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery. For those who wish to attend a small luncheon will be held at Sparta United Methodist Church following the final good-bye.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
